International Conference on “Climate Change Adaptation: Evidences from Best-Practice in Coastal Areas”

The Alumni Association of German Universities in Bangladesh is looking for participants for the Internatinal Conference on “Climate Change Adaptation: Evidences from Best-Practice in Coastal Areas” from 20 -22 March 2020 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

As climate change is a global challenge and as one of the most climate vulnerable countries in the world, Bangladesh has been at the forefront of efforts to adapt. The conference will provide a platform to learn about the Climate Impacts, Adaptation Solutions and Techniques from Bangladesh experiences as well as from other countries in the Asia and East-Asia region who are facing similar challenges. The objective of the conference is to create an inspiring exchange between the participants on the topic of
"Climate Change Adaptation", to expand or create new networks and to jointly develop international projects.

The main topics will be:

• Agriculture and Food Security
• Landscape Ecology/Protected Areas
• Water Resources
• Built-Environment and Local Infrastructures

Abstract Submission Deadline: 8th February 2020
Researchers and practitioners are requested to submit abstract on a topic relevant to the seminar main theme which depicts the participant’s involvement in the field of Climate Change Adaptation with reference to his/her home country (the main topics are listed above). The abstract must not exceed one page (including authors name and affiliation; please use font type “Arial”, font size 11, line spacing 1.5) and submit via email to: GermanAlumniBangladesh@gmail.com

Travel grant and scholarships available for selected participants
Support by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Office of Germany enables to award around 30 scholarships for the participants from Bangladesh or from the countries of South and South East Asia. Priority will be given who has proven background relevant to climate change adaptation. Scholarship will cover the registration fee, accommodation, food and travel (return economy flight) to Dhaka, Bangladesh. Visa fee or other costs have to be borne by the participants. For scholarship, along with abstract must send a letter of application in one single pdf file consisting the following: (1) stating your motivation for participation and your special interest in the topic, (2) short CV with a recent passport size photograph (maximum 2 pages), (3) A short description of your present duties/ position and your personal professional goals, (4) If you are Germany/DAAD Alumni, mention the year of scholarship and the name of program/university in Germany and your country of residence/citizen.
